Biking Tour
through the Medina
Pedal through hidden alleyways, secret gardens and craft quarters of the old city with a local guide. Discover corners no walking tour reaches — at the perfect pace.
Overview
The medina at a
local's pace —
two wheels, no walls
Most visitors experience the Marrakech medina the same way — slowly, on foot, navigating crowds. This tour takes you somewhere different. With a local biking guide and quiet, well-maintained bicycles, you'll cover three or four times the ground of a walking tour while discovering pockets of the old city most travellers never see.
You'll pedal through forgotten fondouks (caravan inns where Saharan traders once stayed), discover secret gardens hidden behind ancient walls, weave through the modernist Mellah quarter, ride past craftsmen's workshops where leatherworkers, weavers and lantern-makers still practice traditions hundreds of years old. The local guide pauses for context, photo stops, and to let you off the bike for the narrowest alleys — but never long enough to lose the rhythm of the ride.
The pace is gentle and entirely beginner-friendly — no fitness required, no hills, mostly flat terrain. The bikes are city-style with comfortable seats, helmets and water bottles provided. Perfect for travellers who want to feel the medina rather than just walk through it.

Your Ride
Meet Your Local Guide
Your local biking guide collects you from your riad in the medina. After a short walk to the bike depot, you'll be fitted with the right size bike and helmet, briefed on local cycling etiquette and given a map of the route. Coffee or mint tea before setting off.
Crafts & Forgotten Fondouks
Pedal into the northern medina past the iron-smiths' quarter and into the heart of the artisan zone. Stop at one of the ancient fondouks — caravan inns where Saharan traders rested with their camels — many now home to working artisans. Watch leatherworkers, weavers and metal-beaters at their craft.
Secret Courtyards Behind Anonymous Doors
Ride to one of the medina's hidden garden riads — a tranquil oasis of orange trees, fountains and zellige tilework that 99% of visitors walk past without ever knowing exists. A few minutes off the bike to explore inside, breathe deep, and admire the architecture.
A Glass of Tea, Marrakech-Style
Pause at a local rooftop café known only to residents and pause for the obligatory glass of mint tea poured from height. Time to rest your legs, photograph the medina from above, and chat with your guide about the city's history.
The Old Jewish Quarter & Bahia District
Roll into the Mellah — the historic Jewish quarter with its distinctive architecture, smaller balconied houses and quieter atmosphere. Pass by the Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs, riding along the kasbah walls of the old royal city. The pace is unhurried, with frequent photo stops.
Back in Time for Lunch
Return ride to the bike depot and a short walk back to your riad. With the medina mapped out in your head and your favourite spots already noted for later, you'll have a real local's understanding of Marrakech — and a perfect appetite for a long lunch.

We run a morning tour (9am-1pm) and an afternoon tour (3pm-7pm). Mornings are cooler and quieter; afternoons end at golden hour — the medina at its most photogenic.

Meeting Point
Pickup at any riad inside the Marrakech medina is included. If you're staying in Gueliz, Hivernage or Palmeraie, transfers can be added for a small extra fee — just let us know.
